Uninstalling linux version and installing new beta

How do i remove the old version on netlogger i installed the new beta version but when i run netlogger the old version starts and tells me there is an update available. is there a path i have to edit or what? using linux debian type

In general, if you installed the debian package previously, you can install the new debian package and it will remove the old package and install the new one.

However, if you installed the "manual" package (the tar archive), the README explains that you need to manually uninstall the old version before installing the new version. You would also have to remove the old debian package if you decided for some reason to install the new "manual" install.
